HOIST

Overview

HOIST is a cloud-based asset tracking and lending app from New Zealand, built by a team with a background in the construction industry. It keeps tools and equipment in one register, with a photo, serial number and receipt stored against each item, so you can see what you own, where it is and who has it. It runs on iOS, Android and desktop browsers, and HOIST describes it as suited to construction, creative, education, farming and legal organisations.

Key capabilities include adding barcodes and QR codes to assets for easy scanning, lending and transferring assets between team members, maintenance reminders, push notification reminders and a secure audit log with permission-based user access. There is a web dashboard for management and reporting, with CSV export, and a free tier covers the basic asset register, lending and reminders. Paid plans add activity reports, maintenance tracking, the web dashboard and team features.

How HOIST works with our labels

HOIST lets you add barcodes and QR codes to assets for scanning, so an Online Asset Labels tag can carry the code for each tool or item in your register. Apply the labels, scan each one with the HOIST app to link it to its record, then scan it again to find the asset, see who has it and lend or transfer it. Anodised aluminium and laminated polypropylene labels stay readable on tools and equipment that are handled, dropped and left out on site, where paper labels wear out.
